HALLOWEEN:

My favorite holiday by far. Hands down! I love choosing a theme with the family, building on that suspense, the art of dressing up, corralling ghoulish friends around for the pre-game, and then accompanying the little ones while we all scurry from house to house.

The Group Theme Was Demons And Witches. H Bird And Baby Dad hosted this years festive event and them two little ones there were committed as kids should be. A devil and mini me!!!

I was over the moon for this years trick or treating. Our past few years, many of you know from What ELSE Is Possible, our group themes have exceeded tame theme costumes. This year falls on the other side of the moon as the kids were ok with a "scary" Halloween Group Theme.

We trolled ourselves around Fruita and everyone was so nice. Groups of kids walking from house to house said hello or Happy Halloween or some form of acknowledging gesture. It Was Refreshing

ROCK-TOE-BER NUMBERS:

Miles - 187 / 300km

Activities - 23

Days Off The Bike - 9

In Closing, life kicks A$$. Went on a radicle vacation, family bonding, and working multiples facets of life brings me to my one and only complaint. I hit the ground running after my vacation!!

Cheers

  1. Dearest Travis,
To both of us, the Halloween is still a strange mix of the European Carnaval and the Sint Maarten on November 11 (Saint Martin). Carnaval is about costumes and Sint Maarten is when the kids sing from door to door with a paper torch or a hollowed out mangel beet, for candy, apples, oranges and such.
Being it so close to All Saints and All Souls is making it a bit mocking.
But everyone is a product from his/her surroundings... I got molded differently and so did Pieter.
AND I wonder why nobody is raising hell about all that China plastic which is being sold—used once and then trashed. Also the cheap polyester costumes that take more than 200 years to fully decompose...
We both enjoyed the mountains instead and the fall foliage and visited a blogger friend who lost her eldest son to cancer.
    Big hugs,
    Mariette

  2. The way Halloween is celebrated in your country is wonderful to see. Here people my age grumble about it (me included) and parents of young children see it as an annoying and dubious part of child raising. Your costumes look great too.

  4. What a fun and fabulous Halloween you had. Great costumes. We dressed up as our usual old fuddy-duddy selves watched monster movies and ate Halloween candy. No sidewalks in my rural town and poor street lighting. No one comes trick or treating unless you live in the big, new developments. They got over 200 kids. My town also had an Oh, My Gourd event on the town green. It was a pumpkin carving event. A local business partnered with one of the farms and had a Tractor Treat event for the kids. There was also a Trunk or Treat at the school. Halloween looks so different now from when I was a kid.

  6. Going all out (or all in?) with those costumes. A quiet Halloween for us. My granddaughter went trick-or-treating with a friends family, so I was off the hook this year. Didn't get as many coming to the house as in years past.

  13. Great costumes... I'd love to go out for Halloween too :-))) However, I had a lot of sweets ready for the kids who rang the bell. It was great fun... and I also made cinnamon rolls. Do you know cinnamon rolls??? Many greetings to you. p.s. I had a lot of activities in October... mostly culture or sports. I'm feeling really good. And I wish you the same.

  18. You all look so fabulous in your Halloween costumes! It is my favorite holiday. I live on a dead end street, so we don't get a lot of kids knocking, but I do love to see the ones that do come. We took a trip to Romeo Michigan the weekend before Halloween and it had such charm like what you describe there. Everyone saying hello and just an overall friendly vibe. Let's hope that sense of community never dies. Lord knows we need it now more than ever!
