Last Day Of February

Gr8 way to end the month, snowing, road trip, clients, and weight lifting. Crushed my goals, core workouts in the AM, excellent radio show, and added miles to the commute.

Driving Into The Storm

March starts Week #9 of 10 towards my two year practitioners training. WoW, week 9!!! Monday starts off with some advanced pelvis work and Thursday starts our advance organ work. Should be a sweet week and I will be blogging my work in the evenings.

Lands End Peak Covered In Freshies
Picked up two new clients this month. One guy that I may not see again but a lady that was super stoked with the work. She had a knee situation and was quite pleased with my work. And all I really did was repositioned her leg to her preferred position and allowed her proprioceptors take over. Her neck relaxed, her spine adjusted itself, and she paid me really well. We all won this month. I had some work done on me yesterday by Sara and we talked a lot about our upcoming residential in Moab UT.

Just Missed The Elk As I Took The Photo To Damn Soon

Just Couldn't Reset Fast Enough

And damn was the commuter bike on fire this week!!! First week was an easy week at 105 miles, week two hit 123 miles, week 3 was only 89 miles as the snow hindered me a bit, and this last week of Feb was 107 miles. That means the Old Cannondale hit 424 miles for the month of Feb. SCORE!!

February Went Where

Pretty stoked about this time lapse video. Gary Wright's Dream Weaver remixed as a sound bed. Click on HD and go FULL SCREEN!!!

SNOWSHOEING: The Boy Dog and I have been rocking the snowshoeing adventures lately. We are burning the cardiovascular system up, shredding the quads, and enjoying the snow. Fresh snow started falling here in GJ,CO on late Sunday and left us with about a full inch on the ground. Maybe a bit more on the vegetation. Our local ski resort scored a much needed 8 inches last night and more is expected. And its been a wet snow which is beyond GR8 and needed!! Sure would love to hit up Crested Butte this Sunday.

He Just Loves Laying Down

TRAINING: The gym has been awesome during this month of Feb. I have increased the weight on almost all of my exercises and feel much better about controlling free weights. Added a new routine that I thought would be soooo damn easy but NOOOOO. The front desk gal Molly Jo, we have had a long history from Cross Roads only, turned me onto the BOSU Ball. She told me to try lunges using the BOSU and so I did. Let me tell you, talk about coordination skills??? My left foot wobbles like a crazy Parkinson's is setting in. I don't mean to make fun of anyone, JUST MYSELF here!!! Working with the BOSU is awesome but not as easy as I had anticipated. Yes, took me out of my comfort zone. Molly Jo also gave me a bunch of ideas today regarding quads and core work. Cross Roads provides a schedule card that I use for journaling my progress and the back of the cards has dates, goals, etc and Molly Jo saw me writing down some goals for March. Thanx Molly JO
Still walking the Boy Dog on our no excuse loop and able to hold a plank much longer. Totally dig the Perfect Push Up handles. I can plank and do push ups without killing my wrist. Been working on my Serratus Anterior muscles by slowly forcing my humerus down and contracting for a 3 count. Some of my push ups are about a 70 degree bend and not the full 90 at the elbow. I can do these slower and pain free and I can do 50 reps now. I am just at a point were my body is feeling stronger and less unstable or cautious. Like my gluts don't crap up when I am on my 3rd set of adductors anymore with the same 60lbs. I am looking forward to timing a mile over at Stoker Stadium the first week of March and testing out the new legs.

RADIO SHOW: Radio Shows have been over the top exciting and the on-line listeners have been hitting double digits. PHUC YEAH!!! I was subbing last Thursday night and topped out at 14 folks streaming on-line. I had a pretty good show and was basically reliving our Vegas trip. I played an audience recording from the first night and highlighted some of my key highlights. All night was live shows by String Cheese, Hot Buttered Run, Yonder Mountain String Band, and John Cowan playing with Sam Bush live. This Wed night I am covering for Changing Gears and I am thinking about an LP show???? Pulling out some vinyl on a late night show???? Any request???

Moons Of Jupiter Just Because

OSCAR NIGHT: I only bring this up because at some point during the PRE show there was an advertisement about selfies. I believe that the news station was making a claim that we have gone to far with selfies??? I have no idea what the hell they mean by this. Haven't we been taking these for many many moons now??? I think I still have some old 8mm video from the late 70's were I would turn the camera back towards me and my brother. I have a ton of regular 35mm film with my big head in the photo. Shots from Australia, The UK, sporting events, and I gotta think I have a disney selfie or two. If you have more info about the "health" of the selfie craze, please speak your truth. As for the Oscar Night, always love it!! I really do. The speeches, the formal wear, the music, did anyone catch any of the songs the off-site orchestra was playing when a presenter walked towards the mic??? I heard the Wizard of OZ, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, the way Tim McGraw belted out I Am Not Going To Miss You, and Lady G with her version of the Sound of Music and then Julie Andrews walks out?!?!!? That was flipping awesome in my world. I don't care if it takes 3 hours because its only but once a year for me that I pay any attention to award shows. I really only think I have these two complaints….. #1) I haven't seen any of the nominated Best Movie #2) Reese Witherspoon didn't win. Absolutely nothing against Juilanne Moore.

Copy Paste For Spelling Reasons

CLIENTS: Clients have been keeping me busy this month. I say that with a huge grin. One client came in with an upper trap thing going on. I was working shoulder points, releasing the scapula, a number of neck positions but was getting anywhere. Ready of this??? Once I worked on his 1st rib, the second rib moved, collar bone went back easily, and that whole functional until of the shoulder calmed down. No more pain!!! Score!! So thats what I mean by "keeping me busy" and exploring their movements better. Had a new client last weekend that didn't have any pains, her boyfriend was in earlier that week, but couldn't explain what I do or did or what is Ortho-Bionomy. SO her and I worked her legs together and we had all kinds of bones fall back into place. She is one of the few clients that anticipates a shift before myself or together when we BOTH at the same time have that big eyes look at each other. Its really cool for me to connect like that. And all i was really doing was holding her fibula and gently finding its preferred home when her femur and tibia clunked into place. And of coarse she says," That knee has been bothering me." No pain when she got up and walked around. Love that. Love Ortho

Some Days Are Just That Way

GOALS: Ending week of Feb…. Can it really be….. Tuesday is an early meeting with a new group called Business International Network. I was invited but not sure whats for real here. I understand this networking group to be a simple idea of setting people up with the right people that they might need at this time. Thats kinda how I understand it so I am not going to judge and find out tomorrow. Then cleaning at the down town gym and then a back and bicep workout. Off to the office for my 1st client at 12:30pm. Wed RADIO SHOW. Not a goal but thats WED beside for gym and clean at the airport location. Thursday is a lunch with MAD Racing's Director. Fridays goal looks to be a road ride, receiving an Ortho session, and hopefully a swim. Saturday will start with a swim and then an all day at the office and it just occurred to me that I didn't write the usual CORE WORK as a goal?!!?!? This means I am taking them for granted. WoW, thats good, crazy, and I better start paying attention to my planks as NOT to jack myself up. NUMBER ONE GOAL, warm up and cool down properly. Yes

String Cheese Incident For 3 Nights In Vegas

The String Cheese Incident was absolutely on fire during their three night run in Las Vegas at the Brooklyn Bowl!! Friday morning started rather early but was choreographed by us professionals when it came to packing up the car. The Blue Z, The Dude ( asleep in the back ) & myself behind the wheel hit I-70 at 7:45am. Those first few hours went by fairly quickly and uneventful. Which Was Nice!!

We made it all the way to Beaver Utah before we needed to fill up. From there, the real road trip began. I simply waited for a driver with Nevada plates to blow on by at 100mph+ and I set the cruise at 95mph. We made the 7 1/2 hour trip in only 6 hours and 41min!!!

The above photo is of Michael Travis and on the left is Billy Nershi. The photo below is from inside the Brooklyn Bowl. Friday night started off with the song Close Your Eyes which is about looking inside your own heart and seeing what you find. I felt like this was an excellent choice of openers for a three night run. The Cheese then slowed it down a bit and pulled of a very soft Little Hands into Ooh Las Vegas!!! They then started up an electrifying Sweet Spot and ripped into a Song In My Head and the crowd threw back the energy on the bad. It Was Amazing!! The whole band stepped back and were looking at each other as if to say," The crowd is here!" They were playing a slow dreamy in between and right on the correct time they HIT the first of two covers with Best Feeling > This Must Be The Place > Beautiful!!! Best Feeling channeled Keller, Naive Melody channeled David Byrne and the younger generation went ape sh*t when Beautiful started and ended the set. It's Vegas And Everyone Was Pumped At The Set Break!!!

Everyone got together during the set break to read their "song" that we picked on our bowling shirts. Our group pre ordered Roots Run Deep bowling shirts for Friday Night's Show. The right front pocket had Cheese in Vegas 2015 and the left front pocket had your choice of song title. We heard that 87 shirts were ordered and our smaller Cheese Family went with all cover tunes. The Blue Z had Magic Carpet Ride ( his radio show ) , The Dude had Synchronicity ( opening 2nd set at Red Rocks 2007 while Cheese played this Police cover, a number of parachutist buzzed the crowd ) and I went with Hot In Herre from my 1st Cheese show in 2003 in Vegas with a Keller Incident. The photo below is just before the band went on showing off their bowling shirts.

The Cheese came out for second set and you could totally feel that magic was in the air. They jumped into a Can't Stop Now for about 14min that was unreal!! The crowd went into a frenzy and became one ball of energy that the band tapped into. They flowed into Miss Browns Teahouse > Chameleon > Miss Browns Teahouse > into the best played ever Birdland!! That is saying something because Birdland into Flying West Jam is pretty much a staple for the Cheese.

Keith Mosley ( Photo Below With The Bass ) was celebrating his 50th Birthday and Billy walks over to him during Birdland and Team Mosley went off on a fat bass solo with the band complementing his performance for like 3 full minutes. I can't wait to buy a copy from this Friday show because the band brought it and were so strong!!! From that point after Birland, the band was so tight and they all interacted with one another and you could feel that they were all on the same page and the jams filled the room with their energy!!! You've Got the World drove the younger crowd crazy AGAIN!!! Outside and Inside fired up the OG fans from the late 90's and then the Cheese busted out the Beatles cover She Came in Through the Bathroom Window!!! It was flipping awesome and everyone was singing their hearts out. The Cheese loved it!! Then, Mike Kang rips the horse hair from his fiddle during Bumpin' Reel > a drummers duo > and a sweet dreamy Just One Story. The place went ballistic during this 45min 3 song set ender. What a way to wrap up the second set of the first night complimented by a light show.
The encore was a beautiful Peter Gabriel cover Shakin' The Tree!! I also used that tune for my time lapse video from up above. The Cheese played this tune nice and slow and brought the whole show back around and again the crowd sang as if it was their favorite all time song. In fact, its how the whole first night went. The Cheese pulled us around, brought us together, and pumped us up for night number two.
On Saturday, Happy Valentines Day, The Cheese went Cheesy with the love songs!!! They opened with an original 15min +  Shine that was so appropriate for the night. Lost > Boo Boo's Pik-A-Nik > Mouna Bowa > Could You Be Loved was top shelf!!! I mean the band was blowing the place up and the crowd lost their SH*T when the first beat of Bob Marley's Could You Be hit their ears. Sirens > Colorado Bluebird Sky rounded off a very strong first set!!! The Cheese came out stronger than Friday and Friday was epic!!!

Second set opens with Jason and Michael playing drums with DJ Logic emerging his sounds that brought the place UP another whole level!!! The 3 of them went into a techno type of DJ action that melted the crowd into a dancing pool of sweat while the full band joined in for Let's Go Outside w/DJ Logic. It Was Magical Vegas Style!!! Then, It Is What It Is > Rivertrance was my highlighted jam!! Hotel Window was nice but Born On The Wrong Planet went completely off the grid. I don't know where the band went but they weren't in Vegas anymore. I was so stoked and didn't want the night to ever end. Beautiful people in the crowd, friends from back in the day, The Dude & Z were having a blast, and it was all happening at the right time. The Cheese ended the second set with Way Back Home > Roll Over that had wonderful jams in the middle of both songs!! The crowd went wild when the band walked off the stage and we couldn't wait for the encore of the evening!!!
Billy came out to share a tale from one of his past Vegas experience that totally cracked me up. Plus, it was the first time they address the audience. I appreciate this because I am not a fan of bands stopping after every song to ask, " How are you?" Of coarse I am doing well and you are wasting our time by asking. JUST PLAY!!  I hope the story is included on the CD when I buy the shows from LIVECHEESE dot com. The encore started of with their original Las Vegas that they hit every mark spot on!!!! They then pulled out a Tom Jones cover ITS NOT UNUSUAL and went back into Las Vegas to round out another strong night. I am telling you, The String Cheese Incident never plays a bad show. They just don't!!! That encore was was two songs mashed up into one killer kick A$$ set!!! Thank You SCI
All of the photos were downloaded from Crackbook. Most of them were from Erik and a few others were from SCI page. The Dude still has the camera so I will post our photos, updates from our Vegas experiences, our road trip stories, the pool, crockpot dinner, the hotel, our bowling shirts, and whats on tap for training and break throughs I have had. Have a wonderful week as I know I will ride this high for the rest of the week.
Plan On This, String Cheese Incident at Red Rocks this July!! A Must!! See You There

Vegas Count Down…. T Minus 3 Days

Shadow Boy & I will be pounding out the miles over the next few days. Actually, the training has been totally rocking!! Lets get into it then. The gym has been so epic the last few weeks. I started out using very light weight and concentrating on slow and controlled movements. Then, I found the Roto-Tecno-Machines. Thats my name for them anyway. What I really like about them is that they have a small read out screen that tracks the range of motion and counts the reps. Both of these totally work for me because this causes me to slow down and control the weight without remembering if that was number 11 or 13. Yesterday I increased the weight on all the machines but still doing 3 sets of 15 reps. I also have increased the weight on the Abductor and Adductor machines which burn my gluts!!! Literally burned my glut minimus in a good way. I have been playing with my strides, position, and pelvis over the past few months and in hopes that a stronger pelvis and core will aide my stride come August. Plus, I just really dig the downtown location because its so small and pretty much empty during the hours of 9am-noon.

And every morning I have been working with my core and then found this book at a garage sale. Love it when that happens!! So I just open up to what ever page and do those exercises at a very slow and gut burning pace. Plus, I am relocating my diaphragm after almost puking it up.

Vegas:
I am so damn excited about this Friday and road tripping on down to Las Wages!!! The Blue Z, The Dude, and myself will head out around 7am and cruise on over the I-70 and down the I-15. The Dude and I have made this trip countless times for opening weekend of March Madness and know the route very well. We never speed, parts of I-15 are 80mph, and the trip is an easy 7 hours for us. We have a room booked at an off name place behind the MGM Grand for like 40 bucks a night. And yes, the crockpot will be making yet another trip to Vegas. We will be attending two of three nights of the String Cheese Incident at the Brooklyn Bowl. New venue for me. Friday nights theme for us "Cheese Family" is Bowling T-Shirt Night. Our friends did a huge order of bowling shirts on-line and the back is embroidered with Roots Run Deep Tour, the front left pocket has Vegas 2015, and the right front pocket has what ever song you wanted to order. Our smaller group went for all cover tunes!! The Blue Z will have Magic Carpet Ride, The Dude will have Synhronicity, and I have Hot In Herre. The Z and Dude have no idea yet!!! Saturday Nights theme is Lovers, Sinners, and Rainbow Sluts/Sparkle Fest. Oh Boy!!!
Clients:
My February has been awesome at the office and I have picked up another 4 new clients so far. At the end of January and just before the Super Bowl, an old friend from way back during the Sun Drop Grocery days, reached out about looking for a massage or Chiro for cheap on CrackBook. It was a funny coincidence that the day I checked in on CrackBook I saw his posting. So a long story short is this; he jacked himself up snowboarding but is also unemployed as well. This got me thinking about how many people walk around in pain and not a damn dollar in their pocket. So I did a posting on CrackBook last week that read something like this about how money should get in the way of healing. I added that Wed and Friday of last week would be a day of Ortho for a donation and added my friends story without using his name. This was a huge hit!! Plus, I had a number of comments that were positive and intern brings healing to those that commented weather they are aware of it or not. Both days were filled and a number of folks gave me my full rate, the donations were awesome, and the word of mouth advertising was unreal. Everyone won and a majority of those folk have rescheduled as well. I am telling you, Ortho-Bionomy works wonders!!!

Ol Grandpa Smokey Trying To Get Some Shut Eye Around Here
Radio Show:
I have a radio show this Thursday the 12th of February at 6:30pm MST. I am pretty stoked about it as I have already downloaded a show from Spearhead and Pink Talking Phish. Both shows are live and should be entertaining. And it will be the night before VEGAS!!!! Might even throw in a mix of reggae beats and a Cheese cover tune. Like maybe Melissa from the Allman Brothers or Riders on the Storm by The Doors or Going Up The Country by Canned Heat. We shall see how it comes together. Feel free to stream live at www dot kafmradio dot org

Commuter Bike: With all the trips to the office, gym, and general errands around town I had another 100 mile week. Cant believe how those miles add up and if you had asked me how many miles I do a week….. I would have said something like 30 - 50 miles tops. My quads feel GR8 and I almost feel powerful again. And the weather out here has been horribly wonderful. That means that 67F in Feb totally sucks if you are a farmer. We have lost ALL of our local apricots the past 3 years. It never fails that we drop below 26F at some point in late March after a warm February. Sad to say that I even broke out the hose and dripped all the trees out back on Sunday as it was over 60F for well over 4 hours and not a cloud in the sky. Its tough for me to keep my mouth shut when I hear folks say things like " I hate winter" " Hope this warm weather never leaves" and my favorite is " Wish the temp would stay just like this"

I Say," Think Snow Damn It!!"
Shadow Boy and I are no flipping where near done snowshoeing this year and our Mighty Colorado River isn't so damn mighty these days. Heads up California…. You think that your drought has been bad…. Just wait until the Colorado drys up near the AZ/CA border.

The Boy Dog crashed out on my arm after a trail run Sunday. He says he was only resting his eyes and is totally ready when I am. I don't know why I am fighting it but I have yet to break out the Yeti 575 and ride some single track?!?!?!  I know the verity would be beneficial but I just haven't pulled that trigger. Plus, Shadow Boy thinks trail running with him is the BETTER choice here.

Hello Feb… Vegas Is Just Around The Corner

Another wonderful weekend with friends, family and a house full of dogs!! The whole weekend was filled with some crazy adventure, firing up the BBQ, and stories were told into the weeeeee hours of the evening. I am one happy boy and Shadow was top dog. He loved having his photo taken and loved all the attention.

And I had a flip of interest during the Super Bowl Game. I am one of those that calls it the game of Who Ever vs Who Cares and I am all in for the commercials. But this year, the game was awesome and the commercials blew chunks!!! I will spare you the details.

My training took a turn for the Sh*thouse as just like many Americans. I picked up a damn head cold 12 days ago. I couldn't even imagine living the life of a smoker. I was coughing up this nasty light green phlegm and horrible snot when I blew. I am fairly fit and this bug totally rocked my world. So I missed a week in the gym and haven't even thought about pool time. Just focusing on floating my kidneys with all kinds of fluids and fruit smoothes.

Other than that, life is beautiful!! Its a new month!!! I am finding time for the gym!!! I will enjoy walking the dogs!! I have a radio show!! I have some friends to visit with!! I have new clients!!! And in about a week or so…… I AM HEADED FOR VEGAS!!!!

And Ol Grandpa Smokey loves about 18 hours of sleep a day and this past weekend really disrupted that pattern. He too loved the attention but damn did it wore him out. As I slipped into bed, as per every nights routine, I always pet him before doing so. Last night, he didn't move a muscle!! He just game me that look like, " Dude, enough now!! Just go to bed!!" Optimistic Existentialist, this photo is for you brother!!!

And to all of you….. Thank for stopping by…. Thanx for being you…. Stand Tall…. Live Your Dreams…. Speak Your Truth…. Cheers
