BRACKETS:
Allow me to brag here for awhile. I'll do my absolute foremost to remain humble. Just Try
After filling out these brackets dating back to the New Wave 1980's , this would be the very first time that I have ever picked BOTH final two teams AND the winner!! Now , I have been able to pick the overall champion a few times , have won friendly leagues a few times , but never have I dominated a bracket like this. Never has all four number one teams advanced to the Final Four ether. With that history in my hip pocket , I picked Alabama to upset Duke. That upset was the only reason why I secured Houston in the final game. And truth be told , I almost passed reserving Houston because the Championship Game was held in TexA$$. And never rooting for a Florida team killed me but I knew a majority of folks in the pool were hot on Auburn and Duke meeting in the championship game. So I went "underdog" with my bracket , claimed 130 total points , and pocketed some righteously cool hard cash. But all the dazzling tutelage is focused around those bragging rights. Stoked
BIKING:
Them legs are somewhere below me these days and the cardiovascular system is somewhere behind me. But I am on the commuter bike everyday. And yes , taking the time to embrace the simplest things in life. Spring Time
Things around and somewhat in my world are mutated with convoluted dimensions so I decided to rattle the bed and shake myself out. One of these rides with exertion was exactly what a was in search of. Nothing adventurous and no storybook ending. Just Riding
But the pace of biking , even during those short few hours , offered up the intended results. The distance between each farming plot allows the scene to change in slow motion while given the land a realistic scale. Taking the time to simply notice every seam , pebble , and crease as the second hand effortlessly moves around in circles. Circle Of Life
The rows of stone fruit trees are opening with life once again. Blossoms showcasing vivid colors for attracting the pollinators. The irrigation canals falsely create the sounds of turbulent watering holes but those birds singing about are definitely realistic. Basically , my bike ride assisted me with connecting to Mother Earth while I keep my shoes on. Or clipped in for this synopsis anyway. Roll On
DISC:
When our world becomes too overwhelming , I play disc golf. It is a free carefree activity and The Dude & I only keep track of the birdies. Disc Golf would become a burden if we actually kept track of our scores. Maybe Yes , Maybe No
We drove out to River Bend Park in Palisade Colorado for a round of 18 baskets. Unofficially , there are 19 baskets to this course and we officially played 17 baskets. We skip holes #1 and #19 because you must throw over bodies of water with those two holes. No Thanx
Starting a round of Disc by losing your disc on hole #1 would ruin the whole day. I mean , yes , I could play both holes but why the H E Double Hockey Stick would ya? This particular course is very well used , maintained , and easily navigated. You will find signage at every tee box. The hole number , a map of the hole placements by color , the yardage for each placement , and the alphabetical wheel below indicating where the position of the basket for the day shall be discovered or aimed for anyway. Unfortunately , almost every basket was in the furthest away position all day. Sucked
And speaking of water , here is a first ever!! These disc always sink as I posted last Summer's collecting during ultra low Colorado River conditions. So along hole #5 , irrigation channel , is this tiny stream that follows Hole 3-6 down the left side. Not knowing it was fully in motion , not that it really mattered , I threw my Shark with a delightful Hyzer break. oops
This Blue Shark landed perfectly flat in order to trap air under it. If ether lip of the disc had entered the water at an angle , to the murky bottom it would have gone. But this particular throw was some kind of a miracle. Once again , speaking of miracles , check out this photo below. Hopefully this photo below works once I upload. Hopefully
This hole in the above photo and hole #6 were the only two birdies for me for the day. I surprised myself with a few pars , especially on those 500+foot / 152 meter holes. Of course there was a headwind and the sun was in my eyes and I was hungry and my nails were in need of a trim and and and and I didn't bring the right equipment and and and ...
Playing this game for free allows me the opportunity to not retreat into my own busy mind. You know the kind of a picture I am painting here. That mind that seems a time zone away. This was the necessary day that I desired and I am thankful The Dude was there to share the experience. Below is Hole #19. For me , a reachable 205feet / 62meters , but why chance ruining a lovely day with a splash down in the pond. No Thanx
DEATH:
This one hurt. Like big time pain to the heart. I helped this guy recover from injuries , surgeries , and shared simple house sitting routines together. Dexter was a Big Ol Lover. He woke up happy , he ate with enthusiasm , and loved to smile. RIP D
SPEAKING:
Speaking of dogs and house sitting, these dogs are a classic.
Truth be told , this dog below is actually my Uncle Mark's dog. M & C send me photos of Hudson all the time. I took the liberty of cropping , added some saturation , and sent it back to him so that you could catch a glimpse of the focus in Hudson's eyes. Classic
This old girl below has had both ACL's replaced in her rear legs. She doesn't take to human so well but we hit it off just fine. While she was laying here at my feet , gave her a little doggie Ortho session. She melted into these nice cool to the touch tile and her human couldn't believe it. "She never sits with anyone." She states to me with an unrestrained April 20th grin from ear to ear.
And below , talk about an all BOY kind of dog. He is definitely one of a kind. Unique to say the least. We get along but I always keep my good eye on him. He keeps both eyes on me. And he is finally taking to belly rubs. If Nobody Is Looking
Dance On Folks ,
Cheers
Dogs are smart, they know a good person when the see them, smell them and give them a stamp of approval with a nice big lick. :) Have a great week, Padre!!
ReplyDeleteYou really "push" me towards the Halfbike with this.
ReplyDeleteDo I have to smoke for sinning or is a good beer OK, too (cheers).
I hope the overwhelming-part is thrown off. And yes. That busy mind...
To Dexter... And dancing...
Nice to hear from you, Padre... all the best for your and love.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely spring— it is so beautiful here!!!
I'd love to see more of those rows of stone fruit trees, and what are those hills behind them?
And yes, the moving photo is GREAT! I could look at it for hours :-)))) But now I want to go to the woods. Yesterday I saw a black woodpecker... you just have to go far enough—then you'll find it.
Sleep well, Dexter...
I actually like all the dog owners I meet because I like the dogs they have with them.
Hugs
