CHILDHOOD:

There was a rather popular event in which every year I just couldn't wait. Back in the late 1970's and mid 1980's , rolling up on 50 years ago , like almost half a century ago , The Beach Boys would perform after a Padres day game. Loved It 

There was always a combination of The Beach Boys , Doobie Brothers , and Three Dog Night after a ballgame. Once a year , during baseball season , the outfield would transform into a concert scene with a stage ,  adding overhead lights , and random party favors as well. Sometimes the event was a double bill and other times it would just be one of these bands or possibly Cheap Trick , Boston , B 52's , Talking Heads , and/or Chicago. Rock & Roll

I was always allowed to bring one friend and don't test me on who actually won the ballgame. These concerts were a big deal during my youth because Jack Murphy Stadium allowed tailgate parties before the game. I enjoyed sitting around that little grill , scooping my own potato salad , and holding my own 12oz soda pop. I thought A&W Root Beer was the cats meow back in the day. We played frisbee in the parking lot , throw the San Diego Chargers blue , yellow , & white football around , or simply chill out in our lawn chairs. Anyway , after the ball game between The Padres and Whoever , I loved hearing The Beach Boys!! The Beach Boys and The Doobie Brothers were always my favorite double bill. Three Dog Night always brought the heat to my adolescent ears. So the hearing of Brian Wilson shuffling off this mortal coil breaks my heart. Brings up all of these memories and thoughts of those childhood friends that meant the world to me back then. Of course , Brian's passing brings up my own mortality. RIP Brian Wilson 

FOXIE FLO:

We made our debut and what a trip it was!! Little did we know , we were competing with DJ Snoop Dogg down at Los C. After seeing him last year , no thanx. We all still believe that it was an imposter and a DJ plays music while he karaoked us and continuously says ," Where are my pot smokers??" Super Disappointing 

I make mention of this because Misti & I were performing for the door $$$. The patio was basically empty during our first set. A few folks rolled in during our second set and then the placed filled up with Snoop fans just as we finished up. Charles King held down the packed house for his set. Needless to say , we walked with way more in hand than we had anticipated. And to my surprise , the owner gave Misti the nod that he wants us back soon. Plus , Prepaid , Rather Than The Door Charge !! So That's Cool  

I definitely made Misti's evening when I changed after setting up and soundcheck. I perviously mentioned to her about a local band during Ride & Vibes that the members of the band were wearing whatever was on the floor and gave zero effort in their stage presence. So when I busted out the Tye Dye shirt , she wasn't impressed at all but she didn't say anything. She was tickled when I set up my mushrooms. She was stoked when I set up all my rope lights. She was over the moon when I changed clothes and added the fox ears and tail. From there , we enjoyed ourselves to an empty patio. Oh Baby

DOGS:

Still rockin' the dog sitting gig this month. We walk , we bark , and we eat with enthusiasm. You know the drill. Auggie was sound asleep here and was in full on dreaming mode when he rolled onto his back and snoozed in this particular position. Classic 

Here below is Dakota. The official office dog. She is so cute and so friendly. I have always gotten the biggest kick out of wiener dogs. The way they carry themselves , the way they walk , and they way the sit up and beg. We have a drawer full of soft treats for her arrival. And she knows that she gets just one per day. No whining , no begging , no BS, and no disappointing feelings. Wise Old Gal  

HEALTH:

Yup , still playing around with this vegan lifestyle. Still enjoying the flavors and really enjoying creating new dishes as well. Hot Dang 

And that homemade humus above , Oh Baby!!! And this tasty dish below , Good Night !! Portobello shrooms , Japanese eggplant , yellow bells , snow peas , onions , and one whipping kick A$$ homemade teriyaki sauce over rice and dashed with sesame seeds. Fiber On 

RIVER:

Our tribe floated the ever disappearing Mighty Colorado River for Fathers Day. Very pleased with Hailey and the kids making the effort. Score 

Robert from down under is back in the Valley , far blue boat in the right of the photo below. The Dude and Ronda in the middle there. Hailey and the kids on the paddle board on the left and just out of sight would be Brennon and Iris. Righteousness 

We put in up at Corn Lake and took our time. We hit a few beaches , snacked on PB&J's , and shared all kinds of stories about all of it. Family Laughter Is The Best 

With the low waters , pull offs , and hardly any paddling , we floated for almost 5 hours in total. The river allows our minds to escape the triple digits and remain in that care-free environmental zone. Plus , we have a number of super soakers for just because. I use mine to shoot an arch of refreshens. Personally , I pass on the blast to the earhole approach. Just a cool off shoot from Uncle T's boat. Love It

Lucky Me , I am heading south for a much needed holiday. Robert , The Dude , & Myself are Pagosa Springs bound for relaxing , disc golf , and a whole lot of soaking in the mineral rich springs. After all , Pagosa is an Indian work for "healing" and/or "boiling waters". We scored a sweet deal at the Aspen Inn and the weather is forecasted to be absolutely stellar. As well as the Mr Moon is waxing towards a New Moon Phase so I shall be outdoors into the late evenings. DEAD FLOYD:

Caught Dead Floyd once again and they came to play! This was my third time catching these guys live and they are so dang solid together. Dig It 

These folks are amazingly talented and bring their A Game to every event that I have had the pleasure of attending. They definitely leaned heavy on the Grateful side for sure but their Floyd tunes were marvelous as always. As every night , they were way high energy!! The singer Charlie projects pure enthusiasm with every song he sings. And I absolutely appreciate their unique interpretations of Grateful Dead Jams and older Pink Floyd deep cuts. Bring It 

DOGS:

I am caretaking these pups once again as their humans are overseas for an extended period of time. And boy did we ever experience Mother Nature unleashing her furry. In 25 years , best storm to roll through the valley for sure. And that is saying something. How about dropping 12 degrees in 13 minutes?? And in those thirteen minutes , gusts of wind slapping trees around at 45mph / 72kph. YES 

As I jumped on the old iron horse ( my Cannondale Commuter Bike ) I quickly noticed that it was rather dark over the Bookcliffs around that 5:30pm mark. But what really caught my eye was just how wide the shelf of the storm appeared to be towards the north. Then , I noticed that the air was still. Like Spooky Still 

Told myself , "Self , let's but a little A$$ into this ride." As I picked up my cadence , looked down one of the north to south side streets and the rain was approaching from the north. That is when I really started riding. Taking chances and getting rowdy I rode. Those sporadically massive drops begin splattering upon the pavement creating the well known and pleasant petrichor aroma. Love It 

But I knew the rain was coming. I thought I knew the heavy rains were coming. Nope!! I Sh*T you Not , the best hail storm that GJ has ever witnessed tore through this Valley. You have to understanding something here. The eastern slope receives vehicle damaging sized hail as the warm moist air from the Gulf collides with the crisp cooler Canadian air aloft. But in GJ , we typically receive tiny little styrofoam hail. My fingernail here below next to a larger sized stone and then the rest of the little pebble sized scattering the floor that broke apart upon impact. So Cool   

Not this sucker!!! Check out Sparky's hand here below. In Texas , this would never be considered hail. But here in GJ , those a vegetating massacre hailstones. The wind , the stones , the whiteout conditions , and the blanket of ice that this storm left behind was beyond impressive and I couldn't be happier. Love It 

What cracks me up the next day , everyone with their stupidly dumbfounded faces asking me, "Can you believe that storm yesterday??" And I wish I carried the huevos to reply ,"Can you believe that you're still consuming that Starbuck's cup of diabetes ya moron?" Yes , the storm drains backup and resulted in flooded streets. Yes , those Hailstones destroyed backyard gardens. Yes , lightning bolts danced inside of that storm. Yes , this particular storm cell was so damn radicle that we experienced an actual whiteout in June. Yes , tons of busted branches littered the streets. Yes , wind ripped shingles off those rooftops. Yes , just like my last post , I can Phuc N believe it people. Mother Earth Is Pissed 

And the next day on my way to work , outstanding I tell ya. 

WORKING:

The days are clicking on by and from my perspective, my schedule's always full. It's the same old habitual patterns but I am rather fortunate that it is the way that it is. Can't Complain 

I believe that I have a weekend on my radar to boogie out of town. Don't want to jinx it just yet. I really do need a breather and I hope that I am not being mislead. I Hope 

Still rocking the commuter bike every day , still happily working multiple jobs , and still paying by chunks for those quarterly taxes. The joy is never ending my friends. Joy Joy Happy Happy

HEADSPACE:

Our Friday Night Bike Night Tribe hosted a Yearbook ride. Hints , salute to all the graduates as per the time of year. A very impressive turn out for sure and catching up with folks was a plus as always. Bonus

Obviously this allowed my mind to wonder while we all meandered along the predetermined route. During that time I began wondering about all those friends from the nineteen hundreds. Some people pass through your life and ya wonder what ever happened to them. I wonder if they ever wonder about me? And then there are those that you wish you never had to think about again. It's flipping bizarre , why do I think about this Sh*t?  Why do thoughts like these rent space in my third eye? And how many times do you associate old engrams with musical tunes? The Police , Oingo Boingo , RUSH , Pink Floyd , And BoB 

MUSIC:

Super score last Friday as Kalinderrrrrrrrrs hooked us up with free Trampled by Turtles Tix!!  

I had no idea that TBT have been around since 2004. The temperature was spot on perfect and the old Los C Amphitheater was packed with concert goers. Way Cool 

Once again , my youth , watching all those kids running around in the grass brought back memories. Those summer time moments in time with friends and cousins while the adults did their thang. And a personal highlight was kicking back in my folding chair and observing all the satellites fly on by in every which way direction. Then , when the Space Station passed by , whole new level of a blight object in the night sky canopy of stars above. Like WoW

The following night was another free show during the Mike The Headless Chicken Festival. I am so thankful that I pulled the trigger and caught the free show provided by The Cleverlys. They are incredibly talented and the stories between songs was brilliant. Such as , "Why don't they have bobble heads for sale?" Classic!! Its the Headless Chicken Festival. So many quick witted stories between songs. Top Shelf 

SCARY:

I just cant begin you paint this picture for ya. We are so Phuc'D and we all were well aware that this is exactly what would transpire during our life time. What The Beep Do We Know hit the big screen in 2004 and that movie played out the quantum physics that we would be experiencing today. Seriously 

The above photo is where The Dude and I launched from. The end of the boat ramp is some 20 feet / 6 meters to the left and bone dry. I walked almost halfway across the river in ONLY ankle deep waters. And the water is so flipping warm. Like Unreal Warm 

We are 100% living during the Inconvenient Truth. Do you recall that 2006 movie? Scientists predicted that we would see massive storms , exponential droughts , and ice caps rising the glorious ocean along our shorelines. Yup , everything that is happening right now some 20 years later was a fact back then. Only took us human 2 decades to cause this with our heads in the sand of course. Humans 

As you know , I am not typically a gloom and doom kind of guy. Just sharing the facts that we are Phuc'D and there is absolutely zero hope for Mother Nature. And I cant help but wonder about the animals cooking while not able to fully comprehend the shake down. Such A Bummer 

All this stems from watching a mother duck and her 9 babies navigate a section of the river while we casually floated on by. Them little fluffy headed babies were so flipping cute. And when they needed to add a little gitty up from a mother's call , they flat out moved along. Effortlessly 

Again , not intending to be a Debbie Downer but this is my observation of what's what. In the photo below , you can actually make out where the waterline should be for high water levels. The Entire Wizard Of Oz Clan should be under water. Our Mighty Colorado Peaked Last Weekend and that is why The Dude and I made the float happen. The Oz Group is almost halfway under water. High Water? I don't think so my friends. Scary Sh*T

As for Sträva and these are all 100% commuter biking miles. 36 Hours on the bike in May , 188 Miles / 302km , and 29 Activities as you can see. Talk about teaching an old dog some new tricks?? When do I learn? When is the next vacation? Where do I go? When Do I Go? I'm Ready
